Dear Family !
Hey Guys! I miss you all so much. That goodbye was sad. I felt so bad when I looked back and saw everyone crying. Just know I love you all so much and I am so grateful to have such a great family!
So I got with my host and she helped me with my suitcases. We walked up to where I got my name tag. Sister Curtis! Then I got a bag full of the schedule, the mission handbook, and them some more papers with information on it. Then we went to this other place where I got a MTC water bottle and a little envelope with my room key, ID card, and information for the day. Then she walked me to the bus shuttle because guess what? I am at the MTC West Campus! That is where Elise (her cousin) is so there is a pretty good chance I will run into her!
So I rode on the shuttle, and I talked to the sweetest girl (I am not aloud to say that anymore ha) Sister. Her name is Sister Chapman. She is going to Minnesota too! So we got our luggage and we went to our housing. The apartments are really nice. It,s me and three other girls. When I got into the apartment the heat was on. So I hurried and turned that off. And my room is also pretty small.
Then I went to this class room. I still hadn't met my companion yet. All of my district is basically from Utah but one kid was from Alabama his accent is awesome. Then my companion got there. She is from Star Valley Wyoming she is amazing. Her name is Sister Simpson and she is a year younger than me. She is so happy. She is honestly great and I am not just saying that. Oh and there are 12 other sister missionaries going to Minnesota.
Cool hu!
After we met everyone in our district we went to the new missionary orientation. Honestly this still doesn't seem real! I feel like I'm just at EFY. I'm in Provo, we are walking around going to different classes, learning all kinds of things, and feeling the spirit so strong.
One thing that was really interesting was one of the mission Presidents was talking about the veil and how our ancestors are on the other side helping us along the way, just like in my blessing. Then he said that the mission work on the other side of the veil can not be completed until we finish our mission work over here. I just thought it was so cool that he talked about the veil and a lot.
Then we went to dinner and the food was great! I wanted to go get seconds! But I didn't... Then as my companion and I were getting ready to leave one of the mission presidents came up and stopped us and said, "You two are going to make a great companionship!" How cool is that. I really am grateful for Sister Simpson. This is going to be an awesome two weeks.
Then we did this thing, well first we went to this chapel right by BYU Stadium and we had the ability to teach. After that we went and met our zone and our zone leaders. They
are nice and they gave us a tour of the MTC West. They showed up where we eat, where we do our laundry, where the mail room is! And I know I have some mail because Elder Curtis saw it this morning but couldn't get it. I think I will have to wait until day 2. And ya Elder Curtis! He is in my district but I am pretty sure we are not related ha.
I just can't believe what a great experience this is going to be. Well I better go. You really don't have hardly anytime to write letters. I love you all so much. I miss you all. Don't worry about me okay! I truly am blessed with such an amazing family.
I know this church is the true church. I want to share it with others. I can't wait to gain a better knowledge and understanding of the gospel.
One last cool thing. As were singing in the New Missionary Orientation we were singing "Armies of Helaman" and they changed the words and didn't tell us...it says
"We are as the armies of Helaman
we have been taught in our youth
And WE ARE NOW the Lord's missionaries
To bring the world His truth!"
How perfect is that? I am so grateful to be out on a mission! Wow!
I love you all so much!
Sister K. Curtis
Love Ya!
This has by far been the best day of my mission!
She is gonna be so awesome. People will be baptized just because her enthusiasm is so contagious! Love that cute girl!
